Compound libraries are often stored in DMSO for practical reasons. However, decomposition of the screening compounds in DMSO solution can drastically reduce the quality of the compound library.

The COMDECOM project involves a stability study, monitoring the stability in DMSO solution of a diverse selection of 15,000 compounds from the Specs' stock. From the generated dataset a predictive model will be developed, to flag potentially 'unstable' compounds in the library, and indicate perferred storage conditions.   The COMDECOM project is the first research project that was started at Specs, and is carried out in close collaboration with seven pharmaceutical companies (AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Eli Lilly, Hoffmann-La Roche, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck and UCB-Pharma).
