New interns in Specs Research Lab - The Netherlands

One of the major drawbacks of the current corona pandemic is that it has become increasingly more difficult for students from both community colleges (MBO) and college education institutes (HBO) to find a suitable internship position. Valuable hands-on experience during the student’s internship will help to develop a professional aptitude, strengthen personal character, and provide important connections in the field. Last August, two of our interns successfully defended their thesis on the synthesis of novel analogues of BM001, the lead compound of our partner BIMINI Biotech. The Specs Research Laboratory again welcomes two new interns, Anne van der Sluis from the Hogeschool Leiden and Tom Speksnijder from the Hogeschool Utrecht. Tom will be working on the optimization and scale-up of BM001 for animal studies while Anne will be working on a new project involving the synthesis of spin-labelled fragments as tools for 2nd-site screening against SARS-CoV-2 RNA. We hope you will have an exciting time. It is great to have you onboard.
