1 – Moved and open for business

Moved and open for businessThe move to our new facility in Zoetermeer has successfully been completed. Our new location provides ample room to expand our operations in order to fulfill the ever increasing demands of the compound management community. We have increased our effective storage space to 1000m2 of which currently 150m2 is in use, both for our own compound repository as well as compound storage for third parties, at room temperature, cooled and under refrigerated conditions.

Preparations are currently underway to accommodate the complete solid archive storage of one of the top 10 pharma companies at the end of this summer using the newest semi automated vertical lift storage systems, spanning a total of 150m2. Discussions are also underway with 3 other top pharma companies and 5 smaller candidates to accommodate their sample storage. In combination with our total compound library management services, which also include registration, reformatting, plating and quality control, Specs can tag on, or completely take over, your compound management processes while keeping your valuable libraries easily accessible. Furthermore, Specs is strategically positioned between the European pharma clusters thus ensuring short delivery times.

Are you also interested in outsourcing your compound collection or are you looking for a trustworthy partner to outsource your entire compound management activities? Don’t hesitate to contact us.

2 New issue of Exciting Academic Database (ExAcD) available for download

New issue of ExAcD available for downloadThe ExAcD library is an unfiltered collection of compounds which is offered to us by academic and research institutes from all over the world. Due to our unique global acquisition program our off stream collection of compounds might be of interest to your research and screening activities. The chemistry offered is not generally accessible through other databases and can be downloaded exclusively via our company website www.specs.net after logon to your personal account.

The compounds from this library are not supplied directly from our available stock but will be ordered from our suppliers instead. Subsequently the quality of the ordered compounds will first be verified by our specialized QC department. This ordering procedure results in delivery times that may vary from two to six weeks. You will be informed on the delivery time of each compound after you have placed your inquiry.

To be able to download the latest Specs ExAcD library release (April 2015, 460,263 raw entries), please logon to your personal Specs.net account and browse to the 'Databases' directory of the Upload/Download area or request a new Specs.net account here. This release contains more than 16,000 newly added structures. If you have further questions about this new database please contact us.

3 – Plant Extract Library project – well on track, over 50% of extracts available

Plant Extract Library project - well on track2014 has been a very productive year for the Plant Extract Library. Some 1200 different plant materials have been harvested and partially processed into extracts. In the coming weeks, at least new 500 additions will be made to the collection. Ultimately, the Plant Extract Library will consist of at least 2240 extracts which can be offered to different parties in the agrochemical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry, screening the extracts for valuable metabolites.

Specs, with over a quarter of a century of experience in processing and handling chemical compounds for the life sciences industry, is coordinating the entire logistics chain in this process, starting from storage of the extracts at -80 degrees C to plating, handling and distribution, thus taking up a key position in this innovative project. The entire process is explained in this presentation on YouTube (in Dutch).
